Comparative Study of Multilevel Inverter Topology for Solar Pv Based Grid Connected Inverter

چکیده

The rapid evolution of renewable energy within the last several years has resulted in the design of efficient power converters appropriate for medium and high-power applications such as wind turbine and photovoltaic (PV) systems. A new group of multilevel inverters has introduced as a solution for working with higher voltage levels. Besides this important feature, multilevel converters have the capacity to produce stepped waveforms. They introduce lower switching losses, lower voltage stress across loads, lower electromagnetic interference (EMI) and high quality output waveforms. Additionally, they minimize the size of the passive filter and extend the durability of electrical devices. This paper presents various multilevel inverter topologies, (such as the NeutralPoint Clamped Inverter, capacitor clamped and the Cascaded Multilevel Inverter), multilevel inverter PWM techniques and their applications. The main problem with multilevel inverter is the large number of devices required to generate higher voltage levels. In this paper a new single phase nine level Inverter topology is presented which requires reduced number of switching components as compared to its counter point conventional topology.
